New drug for alcoholism

New drug on the basis of substance akamprosat helps to leave alcohol without abstinence symptoms, and reduces the desire of those who continue to drink.
Treating alcoholism without abstinence anguish – pain, nausea, insomnia, depression, delirium – has recently allowed by using new drugs based on substances akamprosat. The possibility that patients become and remain absentee is doubled by new therapy. A new type of treatment helps those patients who do not persist in abstinence, that they reduce the desire for alcohol, as well as the quantity and frequency of alcohol intake. Drug is combined with a series of consultative psychiatric approach. Unlike previous treatments, the new treatment does not cause aversion to alcohol and therefore is not accompanied by effects such as nausea.
Akamprosat do not metabolize in the liver, so it can be used by patients who have liver dysfunction, which is often the case with this group of patients.
